Match Report v Kempston Rovers Res

Lge ( H)
Lost 1-2
(H/T 1-1)
The reserves hosted Kempston, to complete the top 3 set, having lost to 1st and 2nd the past 2 weekends. Having already lost to them in the league and cup, we knew it wouldn't be an easy task.

Both teams started quickly with ball being moved around well in the early stages of the game, before Moulton started to take control of the game, especially through Leon, who had made a few unnoticed runs in from the left but without any joy, thanks to the Kempston keeper. Although Moulton were slightly on top it was Kempston who took the lead in the 20th minute. A Moulton corner was cleared long, which Moulton's defence failed to deal with, only for the on rushing Fin to take aim on their striker, with the ball popping out kindly to a Kempston player, who was able to roll the ball into an empty net. Moulton weren't behind for long though. In the 25th minute the ball was threaded through to Leon, who was able to beat the keeper this time. Moulton were starting to dominate play with lots of intricate passing through the midfield, as usual, Moulton's chances weren't converted.

H/T 1-1

Moulton's first half caused Kempston to have a tactical reshuffle and after the break, they were pressing harder and making Moulton's life a lot harder. Neither team was creating clear cut chances, until Durrell, cut in from the right, with ball landing at Cammy's feet 8 yards out only for him to drag his shot just wide. Kempston found the winning goal in the 70th minute, their striker, turned Josiah, had the pace to get past Paul and slotted the ball in at the near post. The only other point to mention was Fin going off with concussion after a receiving a knee to the head, resulting in Luke Smart returning to goalkeeping duties. And even though he runs out to collect balls by shouting 'I'm not a goalkeeper', he was in fact, the only keeper in this game to keep a clean sheet.
