Moulton Reserves entertained Daventry Town Reserves in what was the third fixture between the two clubs this season, with Moulton hoping to rectify the previous two defeats (League Away in September 2-7 and Junior Cup in November 1-5). It was Moulton who opened the scoring after only 38 secs, Leon Rush pouncing on some indecision by the Daventry Keeper. After 27 mins it was 2-0 to Moulton, Durrell Wedderburn advancing into the penalty area and slotting it past the keeper from the right side. However, 2 minutes later Daventry got on the score sheet and in the resultant celebration ‘Captain Kairris’ ended up in the referee’s book. As half-time loomed, Daventry equalised when Luke Smart, deputising in goal, was unable to get his fingertips to a shot across goal.
HALF-TIME 2-2
Second half saw the floodlight switched on and within 5 mins of the restart Daventry took the lead. In the 36th minute it looked like Moulton had equalised through Durrell Wedderburn, when he directed a cross from the left past the Daventry keeper, but the linesman had flagged for offside. Both teams had further opportunities to score, but in the end it ended in a 3-2 win for Daventry Town Reserves.
