Moulton journey to Harborough Town reserves having beaten them on the opening day of the season 5-1, however with a large player turnover it was a different side we faced today.
Playing on the astroturf pitch gave the game a home feel to it, with Moulton popping the ball around well in the early stages of the game. Moulton scored the opening goal of the game after 20 minutes, with a move that started from the defence and was passed throughout the team, with it climaxing with Leon arriving unmarked at the back post to find the net.
Moulton had chances to stretch their lead with Isaac, Davide and Durrell all being thwarted by the Harborough keeper.
Harborough then grew into the game, and didn't allow Moulton as long on the ball. Their reward was an equalising goal through breakdown a Moulton move early an transitioning well, before a blocked shot fell kindly to their winger, who sloted home from close range in the 30th minute.
Goal of the game came in the 35th minute, as Durrell hit a looping shot from the corner of the 18 yard box into the opposite top corner, to give Moulton a 2-1 lead at half time.
Harborough came out in the second half, seeming more willing to push forward, searching for an equaliser. Moulton's backline stood firm, with their striker unable to pass the Moulton Daddy and though we were busier than previously, it was Harborough who conceded next. In the 55th minute, Will played Durrell through, but was prevented from scoring by the keeper again, luckily the rebound fell to Davide, who finished from close range to make it 1-3.
Further efforts came from Moulton looking to kill the game off, Will scuffed 2 efforts and Jerry put 1 wide before Durrell had his penalty saved. These missed chances almost made Moulton pay, as Harbough scored their 2nd in the 80th when Moulton conceded the obligatory goal from a shot outside the box. This made the last 10 more frantic than needed but Moulton were never really troubled with Moulton looking more likely to score at the death. Moulton almost killed the game off with 5 to go when Luke Bell's determined run, led to him creating his own effort, which was saved by the keeper. However, Moulton did put the game to bed in the 89th minute when Jerry finally decided to get off the mark for the season, with a left footed finish, a lovely assist by debutant Amour.
