Moulton travel the 54 miles down the M1 to play London Colney this Saturday (KO 2:00). This is the re-arranged match that was due on 4 Jan but was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
In 2022-23, ‘The Blue Boys’ finished bottom of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division, were relegated and transferred to Division One of the Combined Counties League where they ended up in the bottom 3, relegation position (21st). The club were transferred to Division One of the Spartan South Midlands League for this season.
Since the postponement not much has changed at London Colney, other than they have dropped a position (now 20th) mainly because they have not played a game in January. The Blue Boys’ currently occupy bottom slot with 8 points from their 19 games (Won 2; Draw 2; Defeats 15). Since our 4-0 home win against them in November (goals from Okoye (2), Hall & Iaciofano), they have suffered a further 5 defeats without scoring a goal. Their last 4 games saw them lose away at AFC Welwyn 3-0, two home defeats v Rushden & Higham (0-2) & Stotfold Reserves (0-3) and a 1-0 defeat away at Leighton Town Reserves. Their only wins this season have been at home v Raunds (3-1) in September and 3-2 v Huntingdon in November. Since that win v Huntingdon they have played 7 games, drew 1 (0-0), lost 6, conceded 16 and scored 0 (as we know footballs a funny game so their is no guarantee their goal draught will continue).
Saturday’s referee is Peter Kwak, who has officiated two games involving Moulton this season, the home win v Buckingham (4-1) and the away draw at Desborough (1-1).
