With 7 games left Moulton FC welcomed third bottom Huntingdon Town to Brunting Rd in search of 3 points to keep up the momentum at the top end of the league. The visitors forced a corner in the first minute which was safely dealt with and within 2 more minutes the Magpies took the lead when Adam Dicks played a ball in to Derek Okoye and when his shot cannoned back off the far post LEWIS ISOM had the simple task of finding the empty net. Remarkably within 2 more minutes it was 2-0 ISOM again the scorer after being set up by Matty Long. The Hunters responded and twice home keeper Jonny Vallance saved with his legs however this was a brief interlude in the home pressure and not long after Okoye was inches away from converting an Isom cross. With 17 minutes on the clock the crowd were treated to some individual magic from Damian Osoimoejiokhian who picked up the ball well inside his own half and went on a mazy run right through the visitors defence and found himself in the clear with just the keeper to beat, sadly he scuffed his shot wide of the post and what could well have been goal of the season ended up just a goal kick. The home side continued to create chances Dan Camacho had a 1 on 1 with the keeper but saw his shot saved and then played a 1-2 with Okoye but again the keeper saved. Okoye had a decent shout for a penalty after being flattened by the Huntingdon stopper and just before the break Dante Grey was inches over with a header from an Isom corner.

Ten minutes into the second half Okoye who was still struggling following the earlier clash was replaced by Keiran Ashman, and still Moulton created chances this time Long just missed the target from 20 yards. It was just a matter of time really and a third goal did arrive after 59 minutes when Andy Hall player in CAMACHO down the right hand side of the Hunters penalty area and he finished clinically. The visitors were now under constant pressure and twice in the space of 3 minutes the crossbar came to their rescue, first Isom struck it from distance and minutes later he played a short corner to Hall who also struck the frame of the goal, Grey followed up that effort to find the net but was flagged offside. Moulton were creating chances at will and went 4-0 up with 17 minutes left when LONG went on a run down the left before cutting inside and firing the ball in to the roof of the net from 20 yards. That was his last piece of action as he was replaced by Pierre N’Golo and Dan Mortimer replaced Osoimoejiokhian at the same time. N’Golo was straight into action and tested the visitor’s keeper low down before having a hand in goal no 5, when he combined with Dan White to set up ISOM for his hat-trick. Justin Mensah replaced White and was the main creator of the final goal. Ashman won a challenge on the edge of the home box Mensah broke down the middle of the pitch before passing to Isom out on the right and his pin point cross was headed in at the far post by CAMACHO for his second of the game, and this capped a dominating display by the Magpies and sets the team up nicely for next Saturday’s table topping clash when AFC Welwyn visit Brunting Rd where a large crowd is expected.
