The Magpies ended a run of 3 away games in a week with a trip to Royston Res and showed 3 changes from from the midweek draw at Long Buckby with Francis Boateng, Keiran Ashman and Derek Okoye replacing Josh Melling, Justin Mensah and Matty Long. Kicking down the slope on a lovely afternoon in Hertfordshire Moulton were straight out of the traps and took the lead after only 2 minutes when Lewis Isom found NAT ANSU inside the box and his left foot shot found the far corner of the net. The visitors continued to dominate and Ansu had two chances in quick succession firstly scuffing a shot after being set up by Derek Okoye and then seeing the home keeper tip a shot over the bar. The constant pressure finally told however after 22 minutes when Ansu and Isom combined to set up OKOYE and he finished with aplomb to double the lead. The home side were given no quarter by the hungry Magpies as time and time again tackles were won in midfield and this was the springboard to launch attack after attack, Keiran Ashman saw a shot blocked after a 1-2 with Ansu and then Ansu worked another opening for Okoye but again his shot was blocked. Moulton did eventually add a third goal with 6 minutes of the half left, Isom swung over a corner, OKOYE got a flick on the ball and when the home keeper could only palm it up into the air, the big striker was first to react to the loose ball and he headed it into the far corner for his second of the game. The move of the match right on 45 minutes saw the visitors desperately unlucky to not add a 4th goal. Andy Hall found Adam Dicks on the right, he laid it back to Ashman and his first time cross was brilliantly volleyed by Ansu but once again it was blocked by a Royston defender.
HALF TIME ROYSTON RES 0 MOULTON 3
There was no let-up in the dominance as the second half started and Dan White was unlucky to see a header from another Isom corner tipped over, and chances were still being created by Moulton but they were mainly from long distance and only occasionally troubled the home keeper. The game did spice up for a bit when Ashman and a home player clashed in mid-field with the Royston player eventually seeing a yellow card after a lengthy hold up and conversations with both assistant referees. Okoye saw a lob just over and Hall got in to a good position but the ball ran away from just as he was about to shoot but eventually the visitors did add a 4thgoal, with Isom again the provider giving OKOYE a chance 35 yards out and he lobbed the keeper to compete a proper hat trick. A totally dominant 90 minutes for the Magpies where every player contributed and a team positivity and togetherness not witnessed very often
