After 2 home wins in the last week Letchworth were the latest team to attempt to break Moulton’s 100% home league record. To say the Magpies were straight out of the traps was an understatement and with only 30 seconds on the clock they took the lead, Dan White played the ball out to Luca Iaciofano on the right and his cross was missed by Derek Okoye and Nat Ansu but luckily MATTY LONG deputising for the un-available Lewis Isom arrived at the back post to net his second goal for the club. To Letchworth’s credit they worked their way back into the game and had plenty of the ball but didn’t really threaten the home goal. Moulton should have added a second goal after 13 minutes, Ansu worked his way in from the left Iaciofano helped it into the path of White but he got under the ball and it sailed over the bar from 8 yards out. As the half continued here was little in the game but Ansu did have a chance but hit the side netting after being set up by Iaciafano. The Magpies were struggling to cope with Letchworth playing 3 up and in one instance Iaciofano was back in his own area making a last ditched interception to stop a tap in, but the at the other end Josh Melling had a shot cleared off the line following a corner. As the half ended there was a chance for both sides first Letchworth hit the bar with a header and that was followed by Moulton increasing their lead. Once again Iaciofano was involved, when his long throw was headed on by White, ANSU was first to react and he headed in from close range.

Home manager Gary Petts made a tactical substitution at half time with teenager Adam Dicks replacing Okoye and reverting back to a 4-3-3, and at this stage Ben Jackson also replaced Melling who was struggling with an Injury. The visitors had the better of the early exchanges and Jonny Vallance was called into action at least 3 times and Dante Grey made a great block as they pressed for a goal and after 59 minutes they did have the ball in the net but were denied by a linesman’s flag. Within a minute however Moulton should have out the game to bed, Ansu broke free inside the box but instead of pulling the trigger with his left foot he turned back inside on his right and the shot was blocked, and not long after the home side had a great shout for a penalty when Dicks broke into the area and appeared to be bundled over by a Letchworth defender but the referee waved away appeals. The Magpies did have the ball in the net with a minute of normal time left when a fierce shot by Keiran Ashman was parried by the visitor’s keeper to Dan Camacho who netted with ease only to be denied by another linesman’s flag. With 3 minutes of injury time played the visitors got a deserved consolation goal, when the home defence failed to clear a loose ball on a couple of occasions and Joshua Helmore found the target from the edge of the box. This league win was Moulton’s 13th consecutive at home from the start of the season and is the second best record in the English non-league pyramid behind Sittingbourne FC from Kent who have a 14 game winning streak.
