(H/T 2-1)
Moulton were back in League action when Leighton Town Res visited Brunting Rd and the Magpies dominated early proceedings and took the lead after 6 minutes, when Lewis Isom swung in a corner from the right and LUCA IACIOFANO stole in un-marked to head in from 8 yards. Soon after it should have been 2, Keiran Ashman and Nat Ansu were involved and set Derrick Okoye free down the left, he got clear of his marker but hit the side netting with better options waiting inside for a tap in. Leighton got into the game and a header from a corner was just over with 23 minutes on the clock. Moulton were still the dominant side and 2 minutes later increased their lead when Okoye returned the favour to ANSU who strode on before beating the keeper with ease. The Visitors were making little impression but were handed a lifeline in first half injury time when after a clearance from the Magpies box was not closed down and when the shot came in Jonny Vallance parried the first effort but was helpless with the follow up.
HALF TIME MOULTON 2 LEIGHTON TOWN RES 1
The balance of play remained the same after the break and within 5 minutes of the restart the home side increased their lead, Ashman was involved again winning the ball in midfield and when Ansu slid the ball across the box ISOM rifled into the roof of the net. The visitors refused to give up and grabbed a second goal after 58 minutes but then the game descended into farce when a Leighton player was sin binned and players from both sides were handed yellow cards like confetti, the players , both benches, spectators et all were perplexed at the turn of events. In amongst all this Ansu had a header brilliantly saved but after 70 minutes the Magpies looked to have sealed the points, when another Isom corner was partially cleared it only fell to IACIOFANO who finished with aplomb for his second of the game. Just as player parity was restored following the earlier Leighton Sin-Bin , Moulton skipper Andy Hall was banished for 10 minutes but whilst the home side were down to 10 men they definitely put the game to bed , Dan Camacho on for Okoye won the ball on the right and pulled the ball right back across the edge of the box for ISOM who again finished with interest. With the game well into injury time Moulton should have added a 6th goal, Matty Long put in a great cross but Ansu hit the bar with a header and Camacho blazed over the rebound both from inside the 6 yard box. Proceedings finally ended after a 56 minute second half
