Back to league action on Saturday when Moulton travel over to Desborough Town (KO 3:00)
Desborough currently occupy 3rd spot with 31 points from their 11 games (10 wins; 1 draw; 0 defeats). Their last 4 league games has seen them undefeated with two home wins v Wellingborough Whitworth (2-0) and Langford (4-2); two away wins v Langford (2-0) and Stotfold Res (4-1). On Tuesday night they played an away Div 1 Cup match v Leighton Town Res, which they won 3-1 (so Moulton play them at home in the next round). Last Saturday they progressed in the Junior Cup with an away win v Finedon Volta from the Northants Combination (4-0) and also progressed into the next round of the Gladwish Trophy in October with a home win v Raunds (3-1). They did however exit the FA Vase in September when they were beaten by Kempston Rover away (0-1). Their last six league and cup games has seen them undefeated with 6 wins.
There has been no competitive matches between the two teams on record, other than we did play the Reserve side in the Junior Cup back in Oct and Dec 2021, when we had to play a second match due to them playing an ineligible player in the first game…we lost both.
Saturday’s referee is Liam Jackson who has officiated a few games involving Moulton, the last being the 1-1 draw last April over at Rothwell Corinthians.
