Moulton FC were on the back of a 7 game unbeaten run when they entertained London Colney at Brunting Rd but had key players missing including Josh Melling and top scorer Nat Ansu. The home side started the brighter and Dan Camacho glanced a header which was cleared off the line from a Lewis Isom corner and Colney replied with a long range effort but it went well over. The Magpies still looked the more likely Andy Hall shot over and then Keiran Ashman was just wide of the far post with a left foot effort. Just before the end of an un-inspiring first half the visitors had the ball in the net but it was ruled out for offside.
HALF TIME MOULTON 0 LONDON COLNEY 0
Manager Gary Petts made a tactical substitution at half time bringing on Luca Iaciofano for Adam Dicks and it paid dividends immediately. Within a minute of the restart Isom picked up the ball midway inside the Colney half and spayed a great cross field pass into the path of IACIOFANO who took one touch before finishing inside the far post. 10 minutes later Camacho was just wide after being set up by Isom but Moulton struggled to put the game to bed having said that the visitors did little up front to warrant a goal. With 67 minutes on the clock Pierre N’Golo replaced Camacho and not long after Iaciofano was in again on the right hand side but the keeper saved and then he couldn’t control a similar ball and the chance was lost, both times being set up by Ashman. The Magpies grabbed an important second goal with 17 minutes left when Keeper Jonny Vallance launched a long kick down field N’Golo challenged for it and the loose ball dropped invitingly for DEREK OKOYE to finish from just inside the box. This second goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of Colney and Ashman set up Okoye but the keeper made a one handed reaction save to keep it out. With 6 minutes left the home side finally killed off the game when N’Golo was fouled in the box and OKOYE stepped up to grab his second of the game from the penalty spot. Ashman was replaced by Jude Goodacre and soon after Isom had a great chance but shot over after Iaciofano had seen an attempt beaten away, that was Isom’s last contribution and he was replaced by Evan Dye another product of the clubs excellent under 18s making his first team bow. As the game entered added time and much against the run of play the visitors broke quickly but the shot went wide and at the other end there was still time for skipper ANDY HALL to pick up a loose ball on the edge of the box to fire in “middle bins” to grab his first goal of the season.
