Moulton hosted Royston Town Res to kick off the 24-25 season. Competitive debuts we're given to Jonathan Vallence, Jack Barnett and Harry Darnell with fellow debutants Dylan Kelly and Ben Fulthorpe waiting on bench to make their impact.

The game started evenly with a lack of chances at either end. Moulton clicked after 20 mins and Ansu had 3 good chances to break the deadlock but failed with all three, including a 1:1 to which the Royston keeper was equal to. Josh Adams was also denied by their keeper, after he cut back in on his left and fired his shot goalward.

At the other end, Boateng was given a yellow card for bringing down an advancing Royston player after 11mins. Moulton were made to pay for their missed chances after 31 mins as a defensive error by Boateng, getting caught in possession on the edge of the box, gifted the Royston striker an easy finish.

Moulton weren't behind for long, as a hopeful ball forward wasn't dealt with by the Royston defence and the keeper was out of position allowing Ansu to open his account for the season (36 mins).

Royston started the second half brightly and within 3mins ran directly at the Moulton defence and the player appeared to be brought down by Boeteng just inside the box, but the referee says play on, the ball falls to Royston's winger who squares it for their striker to finish from close range... only for Vallence to make the save of the match.

The game then fell flat for about 20 minutes, with no chances at either end. Luca is brought on for Archie (67 mins) and is the spark the game needed. As he knocks the ball past their full back, he squares it to Ansu, who taps in from close range (69 mins).

Moulton were then happy to sit back with the lead and see the game out without really being stretched. Dylan Kelly came on for Josh Adams after 81 mins before a number of players saw the referees Yellow card. Firstly a Royston player was ‘Sin Binned’ in the 87 mins, another Royston player after 89 minutes and finally Ben in the 90th min.
