Moulton FC started 2024 on the back of a 10 game winning run by entertaining Huntingdon Town at a chilly but bright Brunting Rd but were missing Dan White and Filipe Mederios through illness. The visitors had an early chance but a chip beat Nathan Adamson in the home goal but drifted wide of the post. The Magpies were moving the ball around well and it was no surprise that they took the lead after 14 minutes, Aaron Dickins and Josh Adams combined on the left and when the ball was slotted through ARCHIE ELMORE reacted quickest and rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into an empty net. A couple of minutes after it should have been two, Albert Mensah crossed from the left but Elmore slid his attempt wide. The home side were creating chances at will and Nat Ansu should have done better with a header after another chance created by the Adams-Dickins combo, and not long after Mensah saw his shot deflected over after Andy Hall had nicked the ball in midfield. With 10 minutes left in the half Ansu had another chance but headed over after being set up by Adams and minutes later Dickins saw a lob bounce on top of the crossbar and out to safety.

Huntingdon came out with purpose in the second half and had a couple of half chances but didn’t really test Adamson deputising for Mederios but the home side took back control after that and after 64 minutes manager Gary Petts brought on Luca Iaciofano who immediately caused the home defence problems as he just failed to connect with an Elmore cross with the goal at his mercy. Moulton were well on top now and a deserved second goal arrived with 13 minutes left ELMORE cut in from the left and drove across the edge of area before unleashing a shot into the far corner for his second of the game. With 10 minutes left and after some neat football involving a number of players Adams was desperately unlucky to see his shot strike the angle of post and a bar and rebound to safety, however a third goal was not long coming. Moulton had a free kick 20 yards out Hall fed Adams inside the area and he in turn rolled it across to IACIOFANO who smashed it into the roof of the net. And as the game entered added on time there was still time for one more chance but Chief Boateng couldn’t connect correctly with an Elmore cross and the chance was missed.
