It’s back to cup action at the weekend when Moulton entertain Kettering Nomads at home in the 2nd round of the Les Underwood Junior Cup (KO 2:00).

The Northants Combination club currently occupy 10th place in the Premier Division with 10 points from their 10 games (2 wins; 4 draws; 4 defeats). Their last 4 league games has seen them lose at home to Harpole (2-3) and draw the other three v Burton Park Wanderers at home (3-3); Corby Locos at home (1-1); Woodford away (1-1). However, they did progress last weekend in the Premier Division Cup with a 1-0 home win v Burton Park Wanderers. Last season they ended up 4th in the Premier Division with 60 points from their 30 games (19 wins; 3 draws; 8 defeats).

Both teams were drawn against each other in the Junior Cup 3rd round last season, which ended up with Moulton progressing on penalties (5-3) after it ended up 2-2 at full-time. In that match Nomads were reduced to 10 men in the 1st half when one of their players was sent off. Moulton had gone 1-0 up through Nat Ansu after 4 mins only for Nomads to go 2 -1 up early in the 2nd half, the equaliser coming from Dan White on 88 minutes.

Saturday’s referee is Ralph Secklington who officiated at the Junior Cup fixture away at Wollaston Victoria (4-1) last January and the away league game at Raunds (1-0) in February.
