We headed down south again this week for only the second FA Vase fixture in the club’s history without the injured Hall & Mells in the spine of the team. We started the game brightly and on the front foot, crisp penetrate passing, keeping possession of the ball in dangerous areas, a joy to watch. A Barnett cross from the left followed by a glancing header from Isom almost opened the scoring after 2 minutes. We continued to dominate and following more good work out wide, this time from Iciafano, the ball fell to Isom on the penalty spot who stroked it home for the lead after 9 minutes. We continued to dominate possession and control the game without any further clear chances. Out of nowhere a corner needlessly conceded, not cleared, headed home 1-1 after 19 minutes. Another corner, another chance for Penn this time hits the post. A Free Kick, a free header at the back post 2-1 after 30 minutes. 39minutes another corner another header hits the bar. On the stroke of half time their number 9 cut in from the left and threads the ball into the corner of the net, 3-1

The second half started as the first with us in control, a snap shot from Darnell well saved, another from Ansu just wide. Then after 55 minutes we stand off the attacker inviting a shot which he duly carried out, 4-1. Our last chance of getting anything out of the game came on the hour mark as Ansu strode through to score only for the linesman’s flag to go up disallowing the effort. Despite a host of changes, we failed to trouble their keeper for the remainder of the game. After 10 minutes I don’t think any supporter from either side saw this result coming. Work on defending crosses?
