NFA Junior Cup ( H)
Win 7 - 1
(H/T 2 - 1)
Moulton started their defence of the NFA Junior Cup welcoming Rothwell Corinthian Res to Brunting Rd, and included new signing Chief Boateng as well as U18s centre back Joel Machakaire in the starting lineup The home side dominated from the kick off and went in front after 10 minutes when Dan White found JOSH ADAMS on the right hand side of the box and he finished clinically, and within 6 minutes it was 2-0 when Luca Iaciofano crossed for CHIEF BOATENG to mark his debut with a goal from closer range. In a rare foray forward the visitors pulled one back when Josh Durrant in the home goal pulled off a great save following a corner but couldn’t stop the follow up shot, however joy the was short lived when with a minute from the break the Rothwell keeper saw red for a kamikaze high challenge on Iaciofano.
HALF TIME; MOULTON 2 ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS RES 1
Starting the second half with the extra man the Magpies dominated from the off and a number of missed chances was frustrating the home support. With 25 mins left top scorer Nat Ansu replaced Iaciofano and still the chances went begging until eventually they made it 3-1, when a corner on the right was only partially cleared and skipper FRANCIS BOETANG scored from 18 yards with 69 mins on the clock. This put paid to any further resistance from the visitors, and soon after Aaron Dickins hit the crossbar with a cross come shot but not long after it was 4, with the best move of the match No less than 5 players were involved and the ball eventually fell to BRODIE ALLIBONE on for the injured Cole Mason and he fired it in to the bottom corner for his first senior goal for the club. The Magpies were now in full flow and 2 minutes later it was 5 when they were awarded a free kick just outside the box and MACHAKAIRE stepped up and curled a beauty into the top corner for his first senior goal as well with 10 minutes left The home side were now attacking at will and with 2 minutes left Allibone found AARON DICKINS on the left and his shot found the top corner from 20 yards, and as the game entered injury time another great move involving Allibone, Andy Hall and sub Gideon Oppong saw JUSTIN MENSAH free in the box and he finished coolly for his first goal for the club. A thoroughly comprehensive victory sees the Magpies in the hat for the next round.
