Moulton v Blisworth (KO 2:00)

With Tuesday’s defeat in the League Cup ‘consigned to the history book’, Moulton look forward to another home cup match on Saturday, the quarter final of the Les Underwood Junior Cup against Blisworth (KO 2:00).

Blisworth progressed into the quarter final of the Junior cup with a 4-0 home win v Harpole back in November. Moulton will be looking to progress into the Semi-Final as current holders of the trophy for the last two seasons. Blisworth play in the Northants Combination Premier Division and are currently sitting 3rd in the division with 36 pts from their 13 games (12 wins; 0 draws; 1 defeat). The only defeat was away to Woodford Utd in their second game (0-3).They are not shy on the goal scoring front, having scored 45 and only conceded 10. Top scorers being Joey Handley (10) and Shaun Wilkes (7). Their last four games has seen them beat both Woodford (3-1) and Burton Park Wanderers (6-0) at home in the league and an away win v Kettering Nomads (5-1) in the Division Cup, their other win in the Jnr Cup v Harpole (above).

The last competitive game between the two sides was back in May 2023 in the Junior Cup Final at Ferne Fields. Blisworth took the lead in that match after 29 minutes and Moulton had the chance to equalise after 61 minutes from the penalty spot, but the penalty from Joey Evans was saved. Moulton did get on the score sheet on 76 minutes when JJ McCarthy glanced in a corner and the game went to penalties, Moulton winning them 4-2.

Saturday’s referee is becoming a bit of a regular at Brunting Road, Andy Woolmer.
