Moulton Masters Walking Football in the last 7 months have won an incredible 7 walking football trophies (in their last 8 competitions!) in all weathers and all surfaces. We’ve also played against our second team in two of those finals. Yesterday saw us beat two strong Norwich City teams (who’ve won national competitions) en route to winning our 7th title at Rushden. This follows success for our 60s at Sixfields stadium last month and a ‘clean sweep’ in all age categories in the Autumn ‘22 and Spring ‘23 County Cups at Wellingborough and Daventry! “We’re gonna need a bigger cabinet!” said local Moulton lad John ‘pep’ Austin who has Player / Managed us to lift four pieces of silverware so far. Dale Jackson has won two cups, to win ‘bragging rights’ over his son Ben’s single trophy in the Moulton 1st team this year - first time for a father and son achievement though?
Negotiations for an open-top bus parade through the village have temporarily stalled though, whilst we decide if players can use their ‘free bus-passes’?
Just as important to everyone are the weekly sessions for our 135 players, referees, committee and helpers. Not forgetting those Masters also helping the whole Moulton FC by providing grounds staff for maintenance of all pitches and also match-day volunteers for the 1st X1 and Reserves (incidentally more needed next year as bigger crowds are expected).
Masters play training sessions throughout the year, with our next 50s competition at Corby Town in August, then the inaugural County Sunday League this Autumn for three age groups 50s, 60s and 65s. Enjoy your summer!
